Steamed Sponge Cake Recipe

Steamed Sponge Cake Ingredients:
175g Cap Kompang
1½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/8 tsp salt
130g margarine
3 eggs
1 tin condensed milk
½ tsp vanilla essence


Method:

  1. Grease and flour a 20 cm round or square cake pan.
  2. Mix flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt together.
  3. Beat margarine until light and fluffy then add in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add in condensed milk and vanilla essence and beat well.
  4. Add in sifted flour and mix well until a consistent batter if formed.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan. Steam over high heat for 30 minutes. Reduce heat to medium then continue to steam for another 15 minutes or until cake is cooked.
  6. Remove sponge cake and allow it to cool.
